“The sciences do not try to explain, they hardly even try to interpret, they mainly make models. By a model is meant a mathematical construct which with the addition of certain verbal interpretations describes observed phenomena. The justification of such a model construct is solely and precisely that it is expected to work.” John Von Neumann

(Bringing our email conversation over to the blog)
How long? .7 mile swim, 14.5 mile ride, 3 mile run.
I don't think I've ever tried to swim that far. I was on a swim team
between ages 8 - 13. I used google's handy conversion feature to figure out that would be like 11 -
100 meter events back to back, that's a lot of swimming. The ride and run don't sound
too bad. I think I could easily handle all of these things individually,
but putting them together in a tri-athalon would be another story. Way to go man, that's impressive.
